New Junction is continuing to deliver to our local community and the broader West Australian economy, with the transformative project in the heart of Midland well on track to meet key performance measures outlined in the Business Plan.

The Midland Oval Redevelopment Precinct Business Plan was endorsed by Council in 2018 and included 10 key measures, ranging from economic benefit to the community, new dwellings, floor space and the amount of public open space.

Following the completion of Junction Parade, Weeip Park Stage 1 and Catalyst Stage 1, an assessment was undertaken against the key measures:

  • New Junction has already contributed $39m of new construction ($27.4m private, $11.6m public), with $135m of output contribution to the community.

  • It is estimated that with the completion of Catalyst Stage 1 New Junction has achieved 9.1% of its projected population and 9.3% of the number of new dwellings.

  • Recently completed Weeip Park Stage 1, LoCale event space and the mini golf site make up 33.2% of New Junction's public open space. New Junction will boast a total of over 2.3Ha of public open spaces on completion.

The City will soon begin construction on Weeip Park Stage 2, which is due for completion in mid-2021. DeMol investments will also commence construction of The Catalyst Stage 2 in 2021 which will increase the amount of residential and commercial real estate.
